Carl Dennie is delighted to be able to dig into his vinyl collection and play on Push FM every Friday morning from 8-10am, after a three year break from radio. Carl will be playing a variety of music from soulful house, 80’s & 90’s soulful club classics, funk, jazz and touch of Studio 1.
Carl started djing back in the mid 80’s as part of a sound system playing in the blues party scene; in the days when you had to make and carry around your own equipment. Since then Carl has juggled a career and family life with his passion for music, more recently playing with the likes of DJ Disciple, Bobby and Steve, Chrissy T, and two of his long time mates who are also on the station, Daniel B and Mickey Cee at various venues in and around London such as The Rhythm Factory, Mojama’s, Bed Bar, Lane Bar, Cave Austin, La Finca, Canal, Artesian Well, Hob Nobs, Zar Zar’s, Red Bar and Sarraha’s in Brighton.
As well as djing, Carl has produced music since 1991, ranging from hard core, happy house, pop, soulful house and R&B. Carl’s most recent tunes were “Sweet House Music” featuring Shawn Cummins, supporting act for R Kelly; “Got my own thing”; and a remix of the Tears for Fears classic “Shout.” The Shout remix was the lead track on an Ibiza 2006 Summer Compilation album and co produced with legendary producer Ben Jones, who was also responsible for remixing Buddy by Nineh Cherry, Thong Song by Sisqo.
Carl has also been involved in both London pirate and community based radio, and run music projects for young people. Carl formed a music group of 16-17 year olds called Lyrical Justice, producing R&B tracks about the experience drugs had had on their lives. The group performed in schools and youth clubs across London.
With a variety of music guaranteed to get you in the mood for the weekend, why not tune into the ‘Strictly Vinyl Sessions’ with Carl Dennie, Friday mornings from 8-10am.
